Where the Past Comes Alive

The Special Collections and Archival Collections at the Colleton County Memorial Library span over two hundred years (1820s - present) and represent the combined efforts of local historians, librarians and community members to preserve the records that help tell the story of Colleton County and its diverse communities.

The Beulah Glover Collection

The Beulah Glover Collection encompasses the compiled writings, clippings, 

historical sources and genealogical material collected by local historian and author Beulah Glover from the 1920s through her death in 1991.

The Walterboro Book Club Collection

The organizational records of the Walterboro Book Club represent about four decades of club records from the 1920s - 1950s and includes meeting minutes, membership rolls, annual reports, club yearbooks and more.

This collection includes the troop member records, financial records, meeting minutes, cookie sales, badge records, and more

from the Walterboro Girl Scout Neighborhood

for the 1950s & 1960s.


Local Garden Clubs Organizational Records

This collection contains the organizational

records of the Walterboro Garden Club, 

the Alba Plena Camellia Garden Club,

the Gloria De Nantes Garden Club and the Campbell Ashley Garden Club and may

include meeting minutes, scrapbooks

or club yearbooks. 


Press & Standard Photograph Collection

The Press & Standard Photograph Collection contains photographs that were submitted to Walterboro’s Press & Standard newspaper for publication from the 1940s - 1970s. 


The collection contains wedding  & anniversary pictures, studio portraits, as well as images of club meetings, award ceremonies, town events, military service, elections and more.


Local School Reports Collection

This collection features projects by local students including two historical reports about Walterboro in 1957 by Marion B. Glover and

Jean O’Keefe and a 1993 photographic documentary of downtown Walterboro and its residents by local middle-schoolers.
