CIRCULATION POLICY
The Library contains a comprehensive collection of print and non-print materials for circulation. These materials may be borrowed by patrons in good standing for specified amounts of time and renewed, provided there are no pending requests. Renewals may be made by telephone or online at www.Colletonlibrary.org. Material may be reserved by placing a hold on the material and the patron will be notified when the material is available.
There is no limit to the total number of materials that a patron in good standing may check out. However, due to the small number of materials the library owns on some subjects or in some formats, the number of materials in those areas may be limited per card. Juvenile patrons under the age of 18 with a juvenile card are restricted from borrowing R rated DVD's.
Patrons with long overdue materials for which a patron has assumed responsibility may not check out library materials until satisfactory arrangements have been made for the return of the materials or for payment of fines, lost books, damaged books, or other fees due. If payment is not made at the end of two months, the patron's library privileges as well as the privileges of patrons for whom the patron has assumed responsibility may be suspended until all materials are returned and all fines and other fees are paid. Library materials damaged or destroyed in a house fire may be deleted from a patron's record without charge if a certified copy of the fire report is provided.
A fine is collected for each overdue item. This is determined by the number of days the material is overdue. Fines are not charged for holidays and Sundays. The courtesy of not charging for overdue materials is extended to patrons who have been in the hospital, incapacitated due to an extended illness, or other similar reasons.
Reference materials are not available for circulation. For the convenience of readers who need material which cannot be taken from the library, copying services are provided for a small fee.
