EXHIBIT POLICY

 

The Colleton County Memorial Library provides cultural, educational, informational, and recreational resources to the community through its collection and through special exhibits. Exhibits may be planned and displayed by the library staff or by local residents or other organizations upon the approval of the director. Work of local artists and artisans is encouraged.

 

Since the library is a public agency and serves all residents of Colleton County, exhibits must meet standards acceptable to the community. The library shall determine the content and arrangement of all exhibits and reserves the right to reject any part of an exhibit or the change in a display. All publicity relating to exhibits shall be submitted to the director for approval.

 

The Library shall receive no renumeration, fees, or commissions in connection with an exhibit unless approved by the Board of Trustees. Prices may be posted for the sale of objects in an exhibit, but transactions for the purchase of an exhibit item shall be directly between the purchaser and the exhibitor. No part of an exhibit may be removed from the exhibit before the end of the exhibition or approval by the director.

 

The library must be furnished with an inventory of the exhibit and the value of each item.
